Jupiter's beard blooms in early summer, and it repeat blooms throughout the summer. The clouds of rosy-red flowers attract butterflies.

Centranthus ruber blooms the first year from seed if started early indoors. It tolerates drought and poor soil. Also called Red Valerian, Keys of Heaven, Pretty Betsy, and Drunken Sailor. Hardy in zones 4-9.
