This is a rare foxglove species from Turkey. The caramel-brown flowers have a white lip and an intricately-patterned gold and rust-brown thoat. The unopened flower spikes are silvery gray, giving the plant a very soft appearance.
The overall effect of Digitalis trojana is so subtle that you hardly notice when it starts blooming until it's well along. In my garden it's planted with California poppies. It's more drought-tolerant than most other foxgloves. Hardy biennial in zones 4-9.
