Prairie coneflower has purplish-pink, drooping petals. It looks fine in the border, but it's usually planted in the wildflower garden. It has a less formal appearance than Echinacea purpurea.
This species has many different names, including Narrow Leaf Coneflower, Western Coneflower, Black Sampson, Kansas Snakeroot, and Brauneria angustifolia. Hardy in zones 4-8.
