Four o'clocks are heirloom flowers that open in late afternoon to early evening, remaining open until late the following morning. In cool weather, they stay open longer. The trumpet-shaped blooms have a sweet fragrance, and they attract hummingbirds.
This mixture includes pink, purple, white and yellow flowers. Mirabilis jalapa is hardy in zones 7b-11. In cooler zones, it's grown as a self-sowing annual. It reseeds thickly if planted in a warm location like on the south side of a building.
