Arugula is a cool-season leafy green that is often added to salads, sandwiches, stir-fries and egg dishes. The entire plant is edible, including the flowers and seed pods. It has a strong, peppery flavor.
Arugula can be sown every 2-3 weeks to prolong the harvest. It tastes best in cool weather.
Also known as Common Arugula, Salad Rocket, Rucola, Meditteranean Rocket, and Eruca vesicaria subsp. sativa. It's a member of the brassica family.
Sowing Arugula Seeds
Sow arugula seeds outdoors in spring. Or sow in late summer for a fall harvest. Sow seeds 1/8" deep and 1" apart. Thin to 3" apart. Full sun to part shade.
