Rattlesnake bean has 7" long, dark green pods streaked with purple. The flavor is excellent. The light buff seeds are mottled with dark brown like a rattlesnake skin. The 10' vines are vigorous and drought tolerant. Good soup bean.

Cherokee Trail of Tears produces 5" long, green beans. Not stringless, but very tasty. The shiny, black seeds are good for soup. Saved by Dr. John Wyche, whose Cherokee ancestors brought it with them on the Trail of Tears in 1838.

Christmas Lima bean has large seeds - about the size of a quarter - that are cream mottled with maroon. These delicious lima beans have a buttery flavor. Good for fresh eating, canning and freezing.

Legend has it that Turkey Craw bean was found in a wild turkey's craw. The 6" pods are stringless, and they are good for fresh eating, canning and freezing. The brown and tan-flecked seeds are good for soups. Best grown in the south.
