Celtuce 'Cracoviensis' has tasty leaves with green, mauve and bronze coloring. Peel the bolted stems using a vegetable peeler, and rinse off the bitter sap. Eat raw in salads or cooked in stir-fries. 

Eastern European heirloom, 1880's. Also known as Pink Asparagus Lettuce.

Latin name: Lactuca sativa var. asparagina.

Sowing Celtuce 'Cracoviensis' Seeds

Sow celtuce seeds outdoors in early spring. Sow on the surface in very shallow furrows, or cover lightly with soil. Thin to 8" apart. Full sun to part shade.
