HomeCosmos 'Ladybird Dwarf Red' isn't exactly red, but it's a good scarlet-orange. The vibrant flowers appear on compact plants from mid summer to fall.
This is the best cosmos for attracting hummingbirds. I planted it near my hummingbird feeder, and I was surprised to see hummingbirds visiting the cosmos more than the feeder.
Try dwarf red cosmos with blue, white or yellow flowers like coreopsis, alyssum, and Cynoglossum amabile. The compact plant habit and profuse bloom make it a good choice for container gardening.
