Delphinium elatum

Delphinium elatum is the species from which many of the modern hybrids were developed. It is a beautiful perennial with tall spires of deep violet-blue flowers.

Unlike the heavier hybrids, Delphinium elatum only needs staking in windy areas. Also known as Bee Larkspur.

Start delphinium seeds indoors 8 weeks before the last frost date. Sow 1/8" deep. Full sun to part shade. Fertile, well-drained soil.
