Echinacea purpurea 'Ruby Star'
Purple Coneflower
$3.50
30 seeds
Echinacea 'Ruby Star' is my favorite purple coneflower. The stunning flowers have deep reddish-mauve petals and orange-brown cones. The petals are held horizontally. It attracts butterflies and beneficial insects.
Ruby Star coneflower looks wonderful with other summer-blooming perennials, wildflowers and ornamental grasses. It also makes a terrific cut flower. It was named Cut Flower of the Year 2006 in North America.
Echinacea 'Ruby Star' was introduced by Jelitto Perennial Seeds in 2000. It won the Award of Garden Merit from the Royal Horticultural Society.
Also known as Echinacea purpurea 'Rubinstern'. Drought-tolerant and deer-resistant. Shown here with Nigella hispanica 'Curiosity'.
