Eggplant 'Black Beauty'

Black Beauty eggplant has large, egg-shaped, purplish-black fruit that grow to 7" long. This is the standard variety that is often sold at farmers markets. Because of its late maturity, it is best grown in areas with long summers. Harvest when the skin is still dark and shiny, before it turns a dull purple.

American heirloom. Introduced by the Burpee seed company in 1902.

Sowing Eggplant Seeds

Start eggplant seeds indoors 6-8 weeks before the last frost date. Sow 1/4" deep. Transplant outside 2 weeks after the last frost date. Full sun. Spacing 16".
