Gilia tricolor

Gilia tricolor is a California wildflower that blooms in summer. The small plants have ferny foliage and pale lilac flowers with contrasting dark eyes. The tiny, trumpet-shaped flowers have a sweet chocolate fragrance.

Gilia tricolor is nice at the front of the border or along the edge of a path where the flowers can be seen up close. It makes a good filler in containers. It is drought-tolerant, preferring well-drained soil. It self-sows on bare soil.
