Feathered Frills is an exciting kale with leaves that are so finely cut that there's more space than leaf. I questioned the point of growing it until my daughter pointed out that it is perfect for adding texture and fluff to salads.
It is also a beautiful garden plant with feathery foliage and purple-pink midribs. I can appreciate that. Feathered Frills is a Russian type with typical kale flavor.
Sowing Kale Seeds
Sow kale seeds outdoors in late spring to summer, 1/4" deep. Thin to 12" apart. Or start indoors 6-8 weeks before the last frost date. Full sun to part shade.
