Lettuce 'Blushed Butter Oak'

Blushed Butter Oak lettuce has green, oak-shaped leaves with a pinkish-red blush. The blushing increases as the plants mature. It is very pretty, and the flavor is excellent. In a 2025 taste test, it beat all the other lettuces we grew.

This cold-hardy selection was developed by Frank Morton of Wild Garden Seed. Open-pollinated.​

Sowing Lettuce Seeds

Sow lettuce seeds outdoors in early spring. Sow in very shallow furrows, and lightly cover with soil. Thin to 8" apart. Full sun to part shade.
