Liatris punctata

Liatris punctata is a perennial wildflower from the Great Plains. It is shorter than most other liatris species. The spikes of purple flowers bloom in late summer. It is good for attracting Monarch butterflies.

Thanks to its deep taproot, Liatris punctata is very drought tolerant. It grows well in alkaline soil, preferring sandy soil and full sun. Hardy in zones 3-9.

Sowing Liatris punctata Seeds

Start Liatris seeds indoors in winter. Barely cover the seeds with soil, then refrigerate for 4-8 weeks. Full sun to part shade.
