Lupinus perennis

Lupinus perennis blooms from late spring to early summer with tall spikes of indigo-blue flowers. It is a host plant for the Eastern Tailed-Blue, Frosted Elfin, and endangered Karner Blue butterflies.

Wild Perennial Lupine is slow to get started, and the plant resents disturbance. Once established, it self-sows freely, making it a valuable addition to wildflower gardens. All parts of the plant are poisonous. Deer-resistant.

Scarify seeds with sandpaper, then soak overnight. Sow outdoors after the last frost date, 1/4" deep. Or start indoors 6-8 weeks early.
