Malva sylvestris ssp. mauritanica is a short-lived perennial featuring tall stems of deep purple flowers with darker veins. It blooms from June to September, attracting butterflies and hummingbirds.
Malva 'Mauritanica' is taller than Malva 'Zebrina' and has slightly larger flowers. The plant has an informal look reminiscent of a hollyhock. It works best at the back of the border with other tall plants like sunflowers and Nicotiana sylvestris.
