Melon 'Crane'

'Crane' melon is a round cantaloupe with a soft texture and honey-sweet flavor. The 4-pound fruits have a netted rind that is split-resistant.

This rare heirloom was bred by Oliver Crane in Santa Rosa, California, and introduced in 1920.

Sowing Melon Seeds

Sow melon seeds outdoors one week after the last frost date, 1/2" deep. Space plants 2 feet apart in rows. Or sow in hills spaced 4-6 feet apart. Thin to 3 plants per hill. Full sun.
