Nigella 'Cramer's Plum'

Nigella 'Cramer's Plum' is a highly sought-after cut flower with double, white blooms and deep plum seed pods. The lacy foliage is also attractive. I photographed the same group of flowers a few weeks apart so you can see the progression from blooms to pods.

Nigella damascena is an heirloom flower commonly known as Love-in-a-Mist. It is very easy to grow, and it self-sows abundantly.

Sowing Nigella Seeds

Sow nigella seeds outdoors in early spring or fall. Sow on the surface or lightly cover the seeds with soil. To prolong the bloom season, make successive sowings every 4 weeks.
