Oenothera missouriensis

Missouri Evening Primrose has lightly fragrant, lemon-yellow flowers that bloom from May to August. The large flowers are 3-4 inches across. They attract night-flying sphinx moths (the ones that look like hummingbirds).

Oenothera missouriensis goes well with many other perennials, especially penstemons and Campanula persicifolia. It is drought tolerant and deer-resistant.

Native to the southern Great Plains, this plant is also known as Missouri Primrose, Ozark Sundrops, and Oenothera macrocarpa.
