Parsley 'Gigante di Napoli'

Gigante di Napoli is a flat-leaf Italian parsley with extra-large leaves that are very flavorful. It retains its flavor even when frozen or dried.

We like to freeze chopped parsley in ice cube trays with a bit of water to make parsley cubes, which we store in ziploc bags in the freezer. They are great for bringing fresh parsley flavor into recipes.

In organic gardens, parsley flowers attract beneficial insects, and the leaves provide food for black swallowtail butterfly larvae. Parsley is a self-sowing biennial, so it can be grown in one spot for many years.

Parsley seeds are difficult to germinate by sowing outdoors. We prefer to start them indoors.

Sowing Gigante di Napoli Parsley Seeds

Start parsley seeds indoors 6-8 weeks before the last frost date. Or soak overnight, then sow outdoors in spring. Lightly cover the seeds with soil. Full sun.
