'Lesya' is one of the most impressive sweet peppers I have grown. The large, heart-shaped fruits have super-thick walls, giving you lots of pepper flesh for your favorite recipes. Roasting brings out the rich flavor, and the large size makes it ideal for stuffing. We like to stir-fry the chopped peppers in coconut oil, then mash them with a sprinkle of salt to make a tasty pepper sauce. The flavor is best described as rich with no heat.
The plants grow to about 2 feet tall and require staking to prevent the branches from breaking under the heavy load of fruits.
'Lesya' pepper was bred in Ukraine by Nadiya Filimonivna Bilous and named after a friend. It was introduced in the early 2000s.
