Poppy 'Danish Flag'

'Danish Flag' poppy is an heirloom variety with frilly, scarlet-red petals that have a white blotch in the center. The flowers resemble the national flag of Denmark, which has a white cross on a scarlet background.

Poppy 'Danish Flag' is unique by itself and stunning in mass plantings. It has been cultivated since the nineteenth century. It reseeds nicely.

Also known as Papaver laciniatum 'Danebrog'. Deer-resistant.

Sowing Poppy Seeds

Sow poppy seeds outdoors in early spring on the soil surface. In zones 8-11, sow in fall. Mix the seeds with sand before sowing for good coverage. Can be started indoors 6 weeks before the last frost date.
