Poppy 'Elka White'
Papaver somniferum
$3.50
500 seeds
'Elka White' poppy has pale lavender to white blooms with dark purple blotches. The plants are tall and vigorous, and the flowers look gorgeous in my garden with Foxglove 'Berggold'. The creamy white seeds have a nutty flavor without bitterness.
'Elka White' is a very old breadseed poppy from Chrenovec-Brusno, Slovakia. The large, unvented pods don't spill the seeds.
Height: 30"
Spacing: 12"
Light: Full sun
Sowing Poppy Seeds
Sow poppy seeds outdoors in early spring on the soil surface. In zones 8-11, sow in fall. Mix the seeds with sand before sowing for good coverage. Can be started indoors 6 weeks before the last frost date.
