Salvia 'Violet Queen' blooms in early summer with numerous spikes of dark violet flowers on bushy plants. It attracts hummingbirds and butterflies.

Violet Queen salvia blooms the first year if started early indoors. It goes with nearly everything in the garden, and it's a lovely companion plant for roses. It self-sows, but not in excess.

Also known as Meadow Sage, Woodland Sage, Salvia x superba, Salvia x sylvestris, and Salvia 'East Friesland' and 'West Friesland'. It is drought-tolerant, deer-resistant, and easy to grow.
