Spearmint

Spearmint is a perennial herb with bright green, toothed leaves. It's the best mint for cooking and teas. The tiny, white flowers attract honey bees.

Spearmint can be used as a groundcover, although we think it's too aggressive for the garden. It spreads by stolons, and it also self sows. We grow it in a large pot. Hardy in zones 2-9. Deer resistant.

Sowing Spearmint Seeds

Start spearmint seeds indoors 8-10 weeks before the last frost date. Or sow outdoors in spring. Barely cover the seeds. Full sun to part shade.
