Sweet Pea 'Castle of Mey' has large, frilly, soft cream blooms with a deliciously strong fragrance that can be detected from several feet away. It performs surprisingly well in our hot summer climate, producing a decent amount of seed for a Spencer. This is a very impressive variety.
Sweet Pea 'Castle of Mey' was named in honor of the late Queen Mother's castle in Scotland where she enjoyed tending the gardens. It was bred by Unwins Seeds and introduced in 2004.

Sowing Sweet Pea Seeds
Start seeds indoors or sow outdoors 8 weeks before the last frost date, 1/2" deep and 4" apart. In the south, sow in late fall. If starting in pots, move to a sheltered location outside when most of the seedlings appear (before the leaves unfurl). Bring indoors if temperatures drop below 20 degrees. Transplant 2 to 3 weeks before the last frost date. Full sun to part shade. Seeds and all parts of the plants are poisonous.
Home-grown seeds.
