Sweet Pea 'Somerset Lady'

Lathyrus odoratus

$5.95

10 seeds

Sweet Pea 'Somerset Lady' has large, ruffled, carmine-pink blooms that fade to white at the base. The eye-catching flowers seem to glow from across the yard. It was one of the longest-blooming sweet peas in my garden, lasting until October. Maybe that's because it didn't put much energy into making seeds.

Sweet Pea 'Somerset Lady' was bred by P. R. King of Somerset Sweet Peas and introduced in 2014. It won the RHS Award of Garden Merit.

Sowing Sweet Pea Seeds

Start indoors 8-10 weeks before the last frost date. Sow 1/2" deep. Move to a sheltered location outside when most of the seedlings appear (before the leaves unfurl). Bring indoors if temperatures drop below 20 degrees. Pinch when there are 2-3 sets of true leaves. Transplant 2-3 weeks before the last frost date. All parts are poisonous.

Home-grown seeds.
