Carrot 'Scarlet Nantes'

Carrot 'Scarlet Nantes' is sweet, juicy, and nearly coreless. The reddish-orange color shows its high vitamin content. It is a great choice for fresh eating, freezing, and juicing, and it can be harvested early for baby carrots.

The cylindrical roots grow to 7 inches long with blunt tips. They need loose, deeply dug soil to prevent forking.

Carrot 'Scarlet Nantes' is a French heirloom, circa 1855, also known as 'Early Coreless'. It is shown alongside Carrot 'Uzbek Golden' and Beet 'Crosby's Egyptian'.

Sowing Carrot Seeds

Sow carrot seeds outdoors 3-6 weeks before the last frost date in deeply worked soil. Lightly cover the seeds with soil. Keep moist. Thin to 3" apart. Full sun.
