'Blauhilde' bean has dark purple, stringless pods that can grow up to 10 inches long and are easy to spot among the foliage. We enjoy the mild flavor, which is excellent for a purple bean. The purplish-pink flowers add an ornamental touch. The vigorous and productive vines grow 9 feet tall and are resistant to mosaic virus.
'Blauhilde' bean is a German heirloom thought to have originated in the 19th century. It is shown alongside 'Tim's Black Ruffles' tomato and 'Costata Romanesco' zucchini.
