Ground cherry 'Mary's Niagara' is an early-fruiting variety that performs well in northern climates. The delicious flavor is pineapple-like with a hint of vanilla. The fruits are ripe when they fall to the ground.

'Mary's Niagara' is an heirloom ground cherry that was saved by a woman in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario, who sold it at a roadside stand. It was introduced by Experimental Farm Network, where you can read the history of this remarkable variety.

Ground cherry 'Mary's Niagara' is shown alongside Tomato 'Stupice', Bean 'Iroquois Skunk', and Marigold 'Colossus Red Gold Bicolor'.
